About Sue Martin
I have always had a flair for Mathematics teaching and an empathy for those who struggle with the basic concepts and this translated into my professional life where I was a financial trader in the City for over 10 years, before progressing into a mathematically based training role. For the next 5 years I was involved in training some very senior people in the banking industry and it never ceased to amaze me how many people seemed to have an innate fear of Maths and the number of people who commented on my ability to simplify fairly complex mathematical concepts was very flattering. This gave me a passion for catching and helping people to conquer this fear from an early age. I am constantly finding that, with many of my students, their struggles with Maths has been with their confidence levels rather than their actual ability.Our one-to-one method of tailoring all maths lessons to the individual pupils' requirements and abilities enables us to build up their confidence gradually as we work at their own speed. Qualifications I have a distinction in the Certificate of Higher Education in Mathematical Sciences. I have distinctions in the ACI Financial Markets Diploma (degree equivalent) and the pre-diploma,as well as Maths & Economics A levels, Pure Maths and Statistics AO levels and various O levels. I have an Enhanced DBS and a Level 2 in Safeguarding Children. I have completed the UK Government's Prevent Awareness course. |

I am in my 3rd year tutoring at Maths Tutor Essex Ltd and fisrt year at Liverpool University having achieved excellent A levels grades, including Maths Up until the start of year 11, I had always struggled with Maths. This changed when I began to go to a tutor. The one-to-one dynamic of the tutoring allowed me to ask more questions when I was stuck and helped me to grasp concepts easily. I am now very confident in my Maths ability, and love to see other people grow in the same way that I did.. Due to the unfortunate circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic, both myself and others fell behind on their Maths knowledge. However, I believe that there is no time like the present to improve and I know that I can help to make a real difference. It brings me joy to see other people succeed at a topic that so many people find challenging, and I love being a part of that process. Maths isn’t actually as daunting and difficult as it seems - with a bit of help, you can go a very long way with your confidence and knowledge, and get the grades that you deserve. Expertise: My specialty is KS3, Foundation and Higher GCSE

" I sat in for a while to see how Carlie got on as she was quite nervous. But I was pleasantly surprised with how she took to Imogen’s approach for teaching and when I picked her up she felt positive. I did notice she engaged and was focused at all times which is a massive improvement"
